Wade RobertsWade Roberts

Wade obtained an Associate of Science degree at Bakersfield College. He has been in the electrical contracting business for the past 30 years. His experience includes all phases of electrical construction and maintenance in commercial, industrial, agriculture, residential, and oilfield work. Wade joined the JMPE Bakersfield staff in September of 2014. Wade has completed various projects with schools districts, industrial plants, oil companies, commercial buildings, water companies, agricultural systems, etc. He has 30+ years of hands-on experience with the actual installation of electrical systems such as conduit bending, wiring, panels, transformers, controls, fire alarm, communications, lighting, and troubleshooting.

Wade taught electrical night classes for over three years with Associated Builders and Contractors as an Electrical Level I, II, & III instructor.

Wade’s job duties with JMPE include verifying as-built conditions, review construction progress and help with the design process. His certifications include:

• Completion of IBEW Apprenticeship
• Commercial Electrical Inspector, International Code Council (May 2014 – May 2017)
• Certified General Electrician, California Department of Industrial Relations DAS, License #113850 (April 2012 – April 2015)
• State of California Electrical Contractors License, C-10 (1983-Present)

Salvador MelendezSalvador Melendez II, PE 
Electrical Engineer

A native of Santa Barbara, Sal joined the staff of JMPE as an Electrical Designer full time in 1998. During the summers of 1995, 1996 and 1997, Sal served as an Electrical Engineer Assistant to John Maloney, PE. In May 1998, Melendez was awarded his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC). His primary emphasis of studies focused on analog circuits, power systems, distribution and supply. During his terms at USC, Melendez worked as motor design team leader for the IEEE MicromoUSC project–encompassing funding, designing and building a working automatic robot mouse. Between coursework, Sal performed trumpet in the USC Trojan Marching Band.

Sal passed his Professional Engineer (PE) examination in September 2005. Currently, his work at JMPE includes electrical plans, fire alarm layout, power and voltage drop calculations, ensuring compliance with NEC, CEC and UL standards and acting as a client liaison. Professional studies and continuing education are on-going with Sal. He has taken National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) training for fire alarm design and is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA); and regularly attends topical seminars and workshops. In his limited spare time, Sal enjoys playing guitar, reading fiction thrillers, and exploring the great outdoors with family and friends.

Annie ReisAnnie Reis

Born and raised in Phoenix, Annie moved to Santa Barbara in early 2006 and joined the staff of JMPE in May 2006. Previously, Annie spent more than 20 years in greater Phoenix as an architect and interior designer, specializing in commercial interiors and residential remodeling. Annie has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1988) and worked an internship with Barton Meyers in Los Angeles. In addition to her architectural work, Annie has several years experience as a producer in the independent film industry in Arizona. At JMPE, she is responsible for supervising projects and provides specialized architectural design expertise to JMPE clients and staff.

 

Ken TowryKen Towery
Field Service Manager

Ken joined JMPE in October 2008 after 25 years of stellar service as Electrical Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Electrical Worker with the Kern High School District, California’s largest grades 9-12 district with more than 35,000 students and 3,500 employees. Ken is an IBEW Journeyman Electrician.

Based in the JMPE Bakersfield office, Ken is an expert in on-site problem solving and brings considerable school site knowledge to his position of Field Service Manager. At JMPE, Ken’s responsibilities include verification of as-built conditions, reviewing construction progress, and assistance with the design process. He is a graduate of Bakersfield College and resides in Bakersfield with his three dogs and three cats. His leisure time is spent with the greatest joys of his life — two children and two grandsons.

Rachelle HuffmanRachelle Huffman

Rachelle grew up in Mayfield, Kentucky. She graduated from the Western Kentucky University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Psychology. She has excellent verbal and written communication skills developed through four years of competition on Western’s nationally recognized Forensics Team, where she was awarded national championships in Poetry Interpretation and Duo Interpretation in 2011. Rachelle moved to Santa Barbara in 2012 and managed a local restaurant for over two years before joining the JMPE staff. JMPE recruited Rachelle for her skills to enrich client relations and serve as a knowledgeable resource as a project manager for the JMPE Bakersfield office.

Tanner received his Bachelor of Science degree at Colorado School of Mines in 2017. His major was in Electrical Engineering. Tanner is a Bakersfield native and has been with JMPE since his graduation. He manages projects and is also responsible for site visits and inspections of fire alarm systems. When not busy working on projects, Tanner enjoys off-road ATV excursions.

Grace came to work for JMPE in April of 2018. She graduated from UCSB with a BA degree in Developmental Psychology, with a coaching minor. Grace came to us after 18 years working at the SB Unified School District. We are happy to have her on our staff.

Drafting

Alfonso CiprisAlfonso Cipris
Drafting Technician

Since joining JMPE in Bakersfield in 2008, Alfonso creates and stores drawings electronically so they can be viewed and printed. The drawings include technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. He fills in technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made by engineers. He prepares wiring and lays out diagrams used by clients who erect, install, and repair electrical equipment and wiring in communication centers, power plants, electrical distribution systems, and buildings. A Terra Bella resident, Alfonso enjoys spending time with his family.

Manuel GomezManuel Gomez
Drafting Supervisor

Joining JMPE in May 1997, Manuel’s role as a Drafting Supervisor includes overseeing the work of all JMPE drafting technicians, problem solving and project coordination. He is a graduate of Oxnard High School and earned his Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) at ITT Technical Institute in April 1997. Manuel has extensive experience using and operating CAD systems, is known for his speed and accuracy as well as ability to interact seamlessly with project engineers. An Oxnard resident, Manuel enjoys music, sports and working on low-rider cars in his spare time.

Joining the JMPE team in May of 2015, Robert is the CAD Drafting technician based out of the Santa Maria office. Having 26 years of experience in the industry, Robert had been self-employed for the last 18 years as an architectural designer and structural draftsman prior to joining the JMPE family.

Born and raised in Santa Maria, Robert moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1991. Working on several Casino Resort projects before moving back to Santa Maria in 1997. Robert has been actively involved as a volunteer with local youth, as a coach and mentor. He has served as League President of the Santa Maria Valley Youth Soccer Association, as well as Varsity Tennis coach for Pioneer Valley High School, in Santa Maria.

Robert enjoys spending his free time with his wife and three daughters as well as staying active playing softball with his friends.

Agustin received his Bachelor of Science degree at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA in the Spring of 2020. His major was in Electrical Engineering. He was on the Dean’s Honor List with a 4.0 GPA. Agustin became a member of our staff on January of 2021. He manages projects and is responsible for site visits and meeting with clients and contractors.

Born and raised in Paducah, KY, Kyle just moved to Broomfield Colorado this past month. He achieved a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Murray State University in 2019. Kyle prides himself in delivering excellent client service, while enriching client relationships. In his free time he loves mountain biking, snowboarding or just getting out to explore the mountains.

Jessica completed her CAD Programmer education in Oct. 2020. She utilizes her CAD skills to help complete drawings and designs. She has great communication skills and pays great attention to detail. Jessica has worked with multiple CAD programs in the past few years.

Gloria GarciaGloria Garcia

Since 1994, Gloria has served as the word processing backbone for all JMPE offices and staff. If it has to do with data, Gloria processes it. Born and raised in Santa Barbara, she has owned her own business, Wordesigns, since 1982. Gloria is a graduate of San Marcos High School, has an Associate Degree in Business from Santa Barbara City College, and an additional Associate Degree from Santa Barbara Business College. She is active in the community and volunteers with the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara. When getting away from her computer, Gloria enjoys reading and hiking the area’s scenic trails.
